A common problem many people encounter with their exercise program is a lack of progress comparable to or better than when they first started. This can lead to apathy and disintrist. Increased risks of injury from reduced concnetration could also occur. There are many possible reasons for lack of workout progress and I will identify a few of them.
One possible cause could be the lack of exercise variation in your training program. The human body is a very adaptive organism and will react as little as it needs to in order to recover to previous levels. Performing the same exercise choices with the same reps, and even the same order can allow your body to adapt and can slow results. Constantly changing your training routine can keep your mind and body fresh and guessing. Constantly doing the same routines the same way every time may also lead to some joint overuse and excessive wear.
Other possible causes for a sticking point or lack of progress could be inadequate nutrition and impaired sleep patterns. Lack of quality sources of healthy proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. As well as inadequate calorie levels from too few meals per day or poor food choices. These can interfere with your body's ability to recover from the beneficial teardown caused by exercise. Not enough sleep or excess stress may also impair recovery since the human body heals and repairs itself during sleep.
Each individual has his or her own exercises and diet patterns and goal expectations. When a sticking point or lack of desired progress occurs, try to find the reasons why. It just takes proper analysis and consistent habit correction to overcome them.
Try to change things up and keep your body and mind guessing, and you will breeze right past your sticking point!
